Highlights
The surburan portion of Ward 5 is comprised of 3 primary areas;
Old Northwest, which is bordered by Keystone Avenue to the east, I-80 to the south, and McCarren Blvd to the north and west. This area has mostly older hoems from the 60's and 70's, with fully mature trees. 7th Street and Kings Row are primary arties for this area.
Sububan Northwest is the area between Mcarren and the city limits backing up to Peavine Mountain and generally noth of 4th Street. Ward 5 covers most of this area, and all of the new Somersett development and McQueen High area north of MaeAnne.

Spotlight On:
McQueen High School
McQueen opened in the fall of 1982 and serves the Northwest Reno area. It has appeared annually on the list of “1,000 Best American public high schools” compiled by Newsweek magazine and is a “high achieving school.” Currently approximately 2,000 students in grades 9-12 attend McQueen.
Their mascot is the Lancer, and their colors are royal blue and gray. Our motto is “Quest for Excellence” and our slogan is “Lancer Pride.”
The graduation rate at McQueen High is 20% higher than that of the state of Nevada. Source.
